Sundowner Adventures offers day fishing for adults & children in a safe and secure environment. This is a great way to spend time in the outdoors with social distancing. Low season (1 Oct to 23 April) is summer time and we allow bass, bait, specimen carp and fly fishing. High season (24 April to 31 Sep) is winter trout season and only fly fishing is permitted. We are eco-friendly, promoting catch and release of fish (although trout may be kept and paid for by arrangement). Sport fishing a fun adventure for individuals, couples and families.
Fly-fishing is an art and clean (no grubby bait!). It is good exercise but you don’t a high fitness level.
The fishing equipment is available for hire, however you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer. Fishing flies or lures can be bought on site.
We often have fishing monitors on duty to provide guidance on the fishing rules/regulations and to assist with ensuring you have a wonderful experience. They will provide some basic fishing tips but if you want to learn more or have never fishing before then feel free to book one of our group or private fishing lessons.
We believe in keeping the sport environmentally friendly so all fish caught in the catch & release dams caught must be released (And we teach guests the proper techniques required for correctly releasing the fish so that they do not get injured). Most of the dams have Trout (Rainbow, Brown and Golden) and Bass. Academy dam has, Carp, Kurper, trout and bass.
The fishing is done on the six dams at Oxbow Country Estate. We are open for fishing three days a week (Wed,Sat & Sun). Bookings for exclusive or corporate events may be booked on the other days (Mon,Tues,Thu& Fri).

Ek was daar en het dit baie geniet. Alhoewel ek laat in die middag gegaan het, het ek nogtans 4 bass gevang met my vliegstok. Ek geniet dit altyd daar en gewoonlik is dit baie stil en rustig. Ek sal graag meer kere wil gaan dit is net die tyd en weer wat dit nie toelaat nie. Ek het 'n vriendin wat ook vlieg hengel wil doen. As ek weer gaan sal ek reel dat sy die kursus doen. Ek is baie gelukkig met die manier waarop ek behandel word en die feit dat ek kan bel as ek iets wil vra. Al gaan ek nie baie nie is ek mal oor die plek amper op my voorstoep. Lekker dag. - Willie

This was my first visit to the venue, and overall I had a very enjoyable experience. The facilities and surrounding areas were clean, neat and well maintained. The dams were generally clean, although water grass in some of the dams made fishing more challenging. Some of the ablution facilities are quite far from certain dams, and the tuck shop prices are on the expensive side. From a fishing perspective, I managed to land eight fish. The fish in most of the dams were in very good condition. However, the fish from the last dam at the end of the river were noticeably in poor condition. Wayne, the manager, provided professional and efficient service throughout, from the booking process through to our stay. Overall, it was an enjoyable fishing trip and I would definitely recommend the venue to friends. I will also be returning for another visit. - Hermann
